Lauren Dembeck is the visionary Founder and Owner of Brims on the Bluff. Lauren’s journey into the world of hospitality began during her college years, where she pursued a degree in hospitality management. It was during this time that she uncovered her true passions: closing sales, meticulously planning and designing extravagant events, and always greeting each day with a smile.
After graduating, Lauren embarked on a successful career in corporate sales, working with prestigious brands like The Ritz-Carlton and Starwood Resorts. Seeking new challenges, she transitioned into Destination Management, a role that provided her with the opportunity to explore various locations while furthering her professional expertise.
One of her most influential journeys took her to Louisville, Kentucky, a region renowned for its rich equestrian culture and the iconic Kentucky Derby. Surrounded by the elegance of hats and the excitement of horse racing, Lauren felt a surge of inspiration.. With a renewed sense of purpose and creativity, she laid the groundwork for her second business—Brims on the Bluff.
Meet Lauren Phillips. Her goal is to help design the perfect look for each individual, allowing them to express their style and leave our shop feeling confident and excited about their new creation!
Originally from Utah, Lauren grew up in the mountains, riding horses and wearing cowgirl hats and boots all summer long. She has loved dressing up and creating jewelry since she was a child. Her professional career began at her mother’s boutique, Whimsy, in Salt Lake City, where she found deep gratification in assisting women to find the perfect ensemble. She continued her retail career at a leather shoe company called Freebird Stores, where her knowledge of fine leather goods and shoes was developed. Following an inspiring trip to Europe, she shifted her focus to the food and beverage and hotel hospitality industry and began working with Montage in Deer Valley before moving to Bluffton, South Carolina, to work for Montage Palmetto Bluff.
This has allowed Lauren to participate in delivering luxury service standards as established by Forbes. She further applied those same standards to a serving career at Farm in Bluffton. Bluffton has been a magical and fulfilling place for her, and Brims on the Bluff is excited to combine all of her passions into a career as our personal Hat Stylist and Event Coordinator!
Mary Ryan comes to us with an extensive background as a business owner in the service industry, spanning a remarkable 30 years. She has also ventured into the world of custom jewelry, specializing in designs that incorporate crystals and energy. Her artistic talents have garnered recognition through exhibitions of her work in galleries. Drawing from her rich design background,
Mary now channels her creativity into the art of hat design, meticulously crafting each piece to reflect the wearer’s unique personality, lifestyle, and energy. She passionately describes the process of creating one-of-a-kind designs for individuals as deeply fulfilling and incredibly fun! We are so incredibly blessed to have Mary join us in the store as a Creative Hat Stylist for Brims on the Bluff! Each one of her creations is uniquely beautiful and her clientele is top notch!
